1819 Treaty with Spain ceding Florida to USA, ratified 1819 by USA,1820 by King of Spain.
1845 Florida admitted as the 27th State to the union.
1909 Palm Beach including area of future Parkland formed by splitting Dade County.
1910 E.C.Chambers buys 1000 acres from Fla. for $18/acre-contract was voided in 1912
1912 Florida East Coast Railway buys the land for $10 an acre.
1914 Florida East Coast Railway sells land not needed for Railway to Model Land Co.
1915 Broward County created from parts of Dade and Palm Beach Counties.
1937 Model Land Company sells 4000 acres to National Finance Corp.
1938 NFC., sells 4000 acres to brothers George,Devotey and William Blount for farming.

1963 Chartered, recorded in August of that year. With no city taxes. 
1964 Very low yearly assessment established for canal maintenance. 
1965 Founder Bruce Blount retires as mayor. Van E Coggins appointed mayor. 
1966 Coggins resigns. Vincent Stevens appointed 3rd Mayor.
1966 Stevens admin. appoints Bockhold a state lic. CGC to qualify 1st bldg dept
1967 Stevens and John Quigley run for office in local election. Quigley wins.
1968 New local 4-H club very active, win in Broward qualify for state contests.
1968 Quigley administration appoints Connie Quigley the new City Clerk.
1969 Local election returns Quigley for 2nd term
1971 Local election returns Quigley for 3rd term
1972 Commission appoint James E Manning 5th Mayor, due to Quigley demise.
1972 John Stallings/ Harold J. Bockhold run for Mayor in Nov. Bockhold wins.
1973 State Legislators meet to abolish Parkland, New Mayor saves City.
1973 4-H club house becomes 1st city hall with a public meeting place.
1973 Bockhold has firemen qualify & certified, by Wilton Manors Fire department
1973 Has Public Safety Depart. formed. with help from Oakland Park Chief.
1973 Public hearings are instituted for developers presentations.
1973 Mayor acquires avery qualified Land Planner names Rene Valladares.
1973 First City Fire Truck (Used) purchased from Coconut Creek for $2000
1974 First city Ad Volerum tax of 2.7 mills accepted.
1975 2nd major crisis a Parkland Public Safety Officer held for 2 civilians deaths.
1975 Valladares submits one of first city land plans from Broward to Tallahassee.
State hires Valladares for his abilities. Parkland had no money to pay him.
1976 First major home fire set by arsonists our firemen were ready to work. 
1977 Citizens volunteer to make Parkland annual affair. 
1978 Parkland Lakes project approved as “Cypresshead”.
