The Parkland Historical Society began a project in 2009 to present to the Community the history of Parkland using historical markers placed in Parkland's parks, along Parkland's walk ways and along its bicycle paths. The project, called Portals of Parkland's Past, has involved Historical Society members building, erecting and dedicating what will eventually be approximately twenty historical markers. Members of the community can sponsor an individual portal with a $250 tax-deductible donation to the Parkland Historical Society (see " *" portals below). A plaque with the sponsor’s name and a brief message will be adhered to the portal (see 1, 5, 7 and 10 below). Ten historical markers are installed. The 11th and 12th will be installed at Quigley Park and Camp Telogia around the end of 2012.
